For the last quarter of the 2020-21 school year, Legacy has seen the return of a familiar face. Mr. Van Holloway made his return to the school following the departure of the Honors Chemistry teacher to finish this academic year. Previously, he taught at Xenia Christian Day School, Dayton Christian Xenia Campus, Xenia Christian High School, and Legacy Christian Academy for twenty-nine years. When asked, he said his favorite part of teaching is “when students enjoy learning and grow in their understanding of God and His creation.”
Mr. Holloway grew up in Union Grove, Wisconsin with one brother who still lives in Wisconsin and twin sisters who live in Pennsylvania and Washington State. He attended Cedarville College for his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He proudly shares a birthday with his wife Janell on November 29. They met in college and have been married almost thirty-two years. They have four grown sons: Jacob who lives in Texas with his wife and two children, Jared who lives in Xenia with his wife and three children, Jason who lives in Xenia with his wife, and Jesse who lives in Texas.
Mr. Holloway’s favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 9:23 – This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches.” When asked about his testimony, Mr. Holloway said, “[I am] thankful for parents who became believers when I was in elementary school, I attended Sunday school and one of my teachers helped me to understand the gospel and to pray to accept Christ, a year later at a Christian camp in [Wisconsin] a camp counselor helped me to confirm my decision to follow Christ; thankful for a Christian school and college that I attended since 3rd grade, thankful for being a part of Emmanuel Baptist church in Xenia as a member, youth pastor, and for the last several years as an elder.”
